This video portraits the life of the Moore Street Market, a Latin-American cultural enclave situated in Bushwick, a gentrifying neighborhood in Brooklyn. The Moore Street Market was built during the administration of Mayor LaGuardia, in order to give a space to street vendors, moving them out of public spaces. The market has become a significant space for the local community; a place of encounter and exchange of all sorts of Latin-American goods; music, home-made food, groceries, religious figures, love potions, tailoring services, hair salons, etc. In recent years, the city has threatened to move out tenants into a new location in order to give space to new ‘affordable housing.’ In this video, neighbors mobilize and claim the Moore Street Market as a significant space for their community.
